The Sims Social Review : Making Sims More Social!

It's a game, like Zynga's Farmville, that encourages Facebook friends to play alongside one another. All Lamvik would offer is a canned marketing line about being excited that "the world's largest PC franchise is combining with the world's largest social network. Playing with the sweet side of life, The Sims Social will have players helping their neighbors, building friendships,
falling in love, kissing or even making woohoo.

The Sims Social couple moves into a bedroom to neck. The answer is, of course, The Sims Social. "The game is alive, brimming with the humor, romance, mischief and creativity that only The Sims can provide," Jeff Karp, executive vice president of Play Label at EA, said in a press release.

Like Civilatiation World before it, The Sims Social is an attempt to take a hugely successful single-player PC series and adapt it to Facebook. It’s the same Sims gameplay that you know, only with an added social layer on top. Instead of controlling a whole family, as was the case in previous Sims games, in The Sims Social you’re in charge of just one character. Because each of the other sims that you interact with, aside from the token computer controlled character, are made up of your Facebook friends. Plenty of other mainstay Sims features are in the game as well, although tweaked in significant ways. Upgrading skills also replaces the need for a job as you earn money while doing so.

Gamers can only play with people who they've friended over Facebook. "Create unique Sims and live out their dreams--or stir up trouble by pulling pranks. When The Sims Social gets 1 million likes, a bathtub will be unlocked. The Sims Social doesn’t offer a diminished experience however, just a different one. Because while the character and home building aren’t as robust as in past Sims games, the social element makes up for it.

The Sims remains one of the most enduring franchises in gaming. If The Sims Social takes off as Farmville did, EA bosses may be shouting "woohoo" behind closed doors too.
