This article will compare and contrast the three main games consoles currently on sale, these being, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 (PS3) from Sony and the Wii from Nintendo. So let’s compare the offerings from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
Sony Playstation 3 (PS3)
Sony has marketed the PS3 as an exceptional deal because of its built-in Blu-ray player. While getting a built-in Blu-ray player is one of the console's major selling points, its benefits to the gaming experience remain mixed. Also, the Blu-ray drive's fixed speed is problematic: it requires many PS3 games to do a preliminary hard-drive installation when playing a game for the first time. Sony's answer to controller-based motion control is Playstation Move, which it released September 19, 2010. The PS3 also now supports 3D movies as well as a growing list of 3D games.
Playstation 3 is best for: Hard-core gamers and casual that have nothing to do with the ultimate online experience, the first 3D users and fans, doing things themselves, videophiles who need the latest and greatest in Blu-ray, consumers concerned about the content media.
Best Games for PS3: L.A.Noire, Resistance series, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, The Uncharted, InFamous, and Gran Turismo
Microsoft XBOX 360
The Xbox 360 was the first of the current generation of games consoles to be released in late 2005. It is available with either a 4gb or 250gb hard drive. Other internet based features include a Facebook app, downloadable game demos and online multiplayer gaming. The Xbox 360 still remains the better-selling of the two powerhouse consoles of this generation. Also, at launch, Xbox 360 was considerably more affordable than the expensive PlayStation 3. With well over 20 million members worldwide, Xbox Live is the most complete online console experience available today. Like Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN), Xbox Live offers downloadable games (both casual "Arcade" titles and full games), game add-ons (downloadable content, or "DLC"), and the capability to buy and rent TV shows and movies, many of which are in high-definition video. Some of the purchased videos can also be transferred to Microsoft's Zune portable media player. A dashboard update also gave Xbox 360 owners the ability to use USB sticks as a means of storing media and game saves.
Beyond all of its impressive media capabilities, the Xbox 360 is also an excellent game console. Also -especially for the past two summers- Microsoft has impressed us with some major exclusive Xbox Live Arcade titles like Bastion, Fruit Ninja Kinect, and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. With a full year's worth of releases backing it, the Xbox 360 has a much larger and stronger library of games, and playing games is the point, right? While the retail games appeal to the hard-core, Xbox Live Arcade appeals to the, um, soft-core.
Xbox 360 is the best for: People who want an easy to use interface, players who are serious about online play, players who already have friends on Xbox Live, hard-core gamers and casual, anyone who wants a good all-in-one entertainment system and games, fans control full body movement, demons training.
Best games for Xbox 360: The Halo, Pro Evolution Soccer, Fable, Forza and Gears of War, and some Xbox Live Arcade's Bastion and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, a small number of downloadable content for multiplatform games like Fallout: New Vegas.
Nintendo Wii
The Wii is Nintendo’s apology for the purple lunch box they made before, a gaming console called the Gamecube. The revolution lies within they way in which you play games on the Nintendo Wii. Last year Nintendo introduced a new bundle for the Wii that included Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, and a Wii Remote with MotionPlus built in. All things considered, the Wii has become best known for its addictive party games, the occasional fitness game, kid-friendly fun, and shooting titles that emulate light-gun arcade games. The Wii's online multiplayer experience isn't anything to write home about, but we definitely recommend playing Mario Kart Wii online. Aside from games, the Wii doesn't offer much in terms of additional functionality.
As The cheapest console on market, Nintendo Wii been marketed as a purely gaming console which is meant to be fun. What the Nintendo has pioneered however is the use of a remote-like controller that has the ability to attach to an accessory called a Nunchuk. Recently, Nintendo have added other features to keep interest in the console high. Imagine that, a video game console that opposes lying on a couch or being complacent!
Nintendo Wii is the best for: Parents with children who are just beginning to enter the world of games, family games, an environment with a lot of people (bedroom or apartment number), the faithful followers of the classic Nintendo franchises.
Best games for Wii: All the Zelda games, Mario and the first game of Nintendo.
